I have like 3 empty 100 disk plastic spindles. What should I do with them? Are they recyclable? or in garbage? or any other useful ideas?

There was another thread with a GREAT idea using a spindle to organize your cables at the back of your computer....can't recall the link...but it's ingenious and looks terrific.

Yeah that old thread was pretty good.

Basically, cut a hole near the bottom of the plastic lid. Take your messy cables, twist them all around the spindle, and then pop the lid on, fit cables through the hole. Clears up some cable clutter if you have lots of excess.

Other than that, i would think they are recyclable, but im not for sure.

Recyclable? I don't know if they are everywhere, but our local recycling station(Maple Ridge, BC) has a sign posted on the plastics bin, which says they take plastic with the code numbers 1, 2, 4, & 5 in the small triangle that's on pretty much every plastic item. On a stack of spindles I just checked, they all have the number 5 on 'em, so at least around here they're recyclable.... YMMV.

A dispenser for anything that comes in a roll that will fit. You just need to cut a slit or drill a hole appropriate to the material. For example, string, twine, wire, toilet paper, etc., etc.

Or get 4, cut the spindles out and make your own Legion of Doom costume.

PFD - Personal Flotation Device

Beer Glass - Keg Party

Jello Mold

Patio Lanterns - modded with Christmas lights (not a bad idea)'

Coin Bank - Cut slot in top

Ever see in someones workshop when they nail baby jar lids to the ceiling and then screw on the baby jaws with screws and what not in them. you could do the same with these, just brake off the spindle in the middle.

edit, and of course, Gas Bombs
