I'm short on power cables for HDDs. The case, a haf x has support for 5 HDDs, only have 2. No data cables at all supplied. Got a reply from tech support, saying as I only ordered an SSD, that's all I get. If I need data cables I have to buy them.

Any SATA cables that were included with your motherboard are typically given to you. We don't give out extras just because your case has spots for more drives than the cables included. I would expect that the cables that were included with your motherboard should still be in the box though.

Also the front fan cable was disconnected. The two wires were disconnected and I had to connect them both with difficulty as they were installed badly enough and were too short. Had to fiddle around in the case to give more room. If I didn't notice this, what could have happened? No air circulation!!

I can't speak for the fans being disconnected. I'm not sure what happened there. You would still get some circulation from the back fan and heatsink, but it would be less than ideal.

I don't normally comment on these types of forums defending ncix but this time I am defending, your HDD/SSD power cables are indicative of whatever psu you bought and yes the SSD/HDD data cables are however many are in the mobo box the most I've seen in my buying history was 2 data cables supplied for every mobo I bought, I also buy a bunch of data cables 4-6 at a time because I never seem to have enough they're fairly cheap if you pricematch.

My nickels worth because cents have been defunked.

Like all have said, you get sata cables based on mobo that comes with it. If you want more, then buy it.
second you bought the HAF X case. $250 for a case that is not even good at cooling or anything. That money could have gone to a better airflow and interior design for $120.

The fan cables is built that way from coolermaster, as they were short anyway. NCIX did not change how the fans were built.
If you bothered to get proper help, you would not have spent on mainly bad products. My guess the rest of your system is just as bad.

You complaints is just not valid if you bothered to learn about what comes with your PC.

NCIX did nothing wrong here if and 100% ncix side.

The number of those all depends on which PSU you ordered..... if the PSU comes with 4, and at some point in time you intend to install 5 hard drives, how is that something that NCIX did wrong? Given that you only ordered 1 SSD, is NCIX somehow supposed to read your mind that you intend to later install 5 hard drives?

Quote: (gerry_c5 s Jul 13 2017, 02:05 PM)

My last build, I didn't order any HDDs or SSDs but they supplied both power and data cables more than I needed.

So, you got 1 of each then, right?

I don't know about this particular case, but as has been mentioned, the number of data cables included depends on the motherboard you ordered.... I've seen some that come with 2, whereas other boards come with 6. Given that you've been "buying from NCIX for decades", you SHOULD already know this.

As already mentioned, regardless of how many drives the case supports, the amount of SATA power cables provided depends on the power supply. Most PSU's come with TWO leads that have anywhere between 2 to 4 connectors on each. Higher wattage PSU's come with more. Also, depending on the motherboard, you normally only get 2 SATA data cables.

Side panel fan not connected to other side of case where connectors were located

Are you referring to the window side panel fan? If there is a fan at this location, we typically do not plug it in as we need to pack the case with bubble/foam before shipping which will interfere with the cable. Also, if the side pane is removed, the cable or the fan header could be damaged if person is unaware that something is attached.

there were no "extra" cables in the PSU box nor the mobo box. it came back to me today, DOA. no power at all and no, we don't have a power outage where I live. so this build is garbage to me $2500+ thrown to the wind into Steve Wu's pockets! wrote to both tech support and customer service. I'd rather have it built locally and pay for something that works, not send a PC back twice. ordered it in May, still haven't used it!

there were no SATA cables in any of the boxes. did they guess I would only be using the SSD that was installed! so you're saying Corsair made an error in not supplying cables or that Asus made the same error? There are four open slots for HDD. give me enough cables to connect them, not even one? gimme a break

Motherboards typically come with 2 SATA cables. How many do you have?
Depending on the PSU, it should come with a number of power connectors. If you have a lot of storage devices, you may need to purchase additional splitters.

Point is, just because you order a case that can house more data drives or just because you order more data drives, you still need to order the data cables and possibly additional power cables separately.

yeah but you know I paid for that fan to be installed.

Anthony already explained this one. A power cable going from the side panel to the MB will interfere with the expanding foam packs used to secure the components in the system, and can be easily broken if a customer is not expecting it. I cracked open my work PC here yesterday and got the same surprise from a side panel fan (fortunately I didn't break the cable pulling off the panel).

Those extra cables should be there somewhere. The motherboard included 4 SATA data cables total, and your PSU should have enough cables to support 12 SATA hard drives.

Beyond that, the PC department can help you far better than I can. Please E-Mail them at PC*ncix.com

I just checked with Customer Care, they said they personally grabbed a handful of SATA cables and sent them when your system came back the first time.

I've asked them to ship you another handful of cables.

There were NO SATA cables in ANY of the boxes for this build, or is it too hard for you to understand? I also never received any support DVD to install drivers, etc.
That wasn't in ANY of the boxes either, so I went to the Asus site to update  all my drivers/BIOS/etc. My front USB 3.1 ports also don't work, so obviously their inspectors
just sign off on all their builds without doing anything. Most likely if they see there's power to the build, that would be enough for inspection. The tech who built the PC prolly left
the SATA cables and support DVD/CD on his bench!!

My intentions now are: I phoned Asus for an RMA and received one by email for the mobo. I'll have it removed by a local shop, return it for replacement or repair, have the
build done over by a local shop, send an invoice to NCIX by registered mail. They don't pay within 5 working days, take the matter into litigation. End of story! No more NCIX for me!

Yeah they installed the SATA cables finally when I sent the build back. They had no other choice, there were none in ANY of the boxes the first time. And also NCIX
never supplied me with a support DVD/CD for the mobo, so I had to get all the drivers and BIOS updates from the Asus site. The USB 3.1 front ports still don't work
but the rear ones do, even though drivers are installed and show up in BIOS. So, you can read my last posting here on the litigation process I'm about to do! End of story!
Won't deal with amateurs any longer!
