That is not true at all.
7700k to 1700x difference is small. That will vary on certain games.
You may see higher max FPS with intel, Ryzen will give higher min FPS. Which will help more
Had both Ryzen 1700 and 7700k with GTX1060 and both was too close to really even notice.

Can't be the 9th as it is holiday and no shipping that day.

If you want to wait for 8700k too see if you get grab it.
Ryzen is good and has more potential later one with improved bios and fixes. Which a lot of the reviewers has not even done.

Also as an warning, you will have to a top tier cooler. Dual tower heatsink Cryorig R1 or Noctua D15 for stock. This to keep temps below 70c at stock. OC is another issue, you want at least a 360 rad, no smaller.
8700k is very hot with poor thermals.

Depending on which mobo you got. I would go no less than 3000mhz.
As for heatsink this is the one you want for 8700k stock. On sale for $100

Just you know Cryorig R1 is for stock speeds, not OC.
If you want to OC, you will want watercooling.

3200 is a good overall speed.
When you do get your system, be sure to disable MCE in bios.

thanks man, much appreciated.

That is a bummer on the heat..... I hope I will not need OC right out of the gate... I am not opposed to water...but I am trying to keep the money to stop bleeding... would you recommend a light water cpu only water kit? vs wasting the 100 now?

Or what would you recommend within reason, cost wise?

Cost wise wont be cheaper. With the case you have, 360 rad in front would be the ideal.
NCIX pricing for wartercooling is not the best.
A kit like this is what you look for.

The heat issue is again intel uses thermal paste instead of soldier in the IHS.
As this now has more cores, the amount of heat increases. With being a power hungry CPU.
Speaking with my friend who has the 8700k already with R1 stock load temp he hit around 70c. When he tried to OC to 5gz, managed around 93c before it throttle.
He'll see if a 360rad will help, but we are very doubtful we wont be lower than 80c.

ETA is just that. No guarantee on date or stock amount. If NCIX did not get enough to fill the orders, then nothing can be done but wait or change your order.
As mention you will see very little stock till Q1 2018.

When I read ETA. That says to me expected time of arrival... s9 Oct 10th to 2018 is quite the stretch. I'll cancel. Thx

Cancelling is a bad choice, as this will only further your chance to get one. All companies are in the same situation or even worse.
NCIX may have got some in, for certain orders placed. Just not enough too fill all orders.

ETA = Estimate time of Arrival

Our second shipment of 8700k chips arrived yesterday, so that's good news. We do have a lot of backorders, but it's still good news.
