which one are you going to go for? why or why not?

I'm thinking of jumping onto Coffee Lake cause the HD530 on my 6700 does not have enough horse power to drive my Dell U3415W. when I jump between windows, or tabs, I often get a black screen for 5 or 10 seconds before it shows what it's supposed to.

Neither - I'm going Threadripper this winter if I make my bonus at year-end.

If I had to I'd probably wait for Cannon Lake. Some of the audio features in the Cannon Lake PCH 300 series chipset seems very interesting to me being a bit of an audiophile.

I don't have problems flipping around when I have used the integrated graphics on my 4790K on my LG 34" running at 3440x1440. I can actually also drive my 4K TV via HDMI at the same time but it starts getting pretty choppy watching Youtube.

Recently I moved my 1080Ti to my dedicated mining rig and moved my 980Ti back to my main rig. Had to do that because my Creative ZxR sound card refused to be recognized with the 1080Ti running. My ASUS Z97-Deluxe mobo has been very finicky to get that ZxR card to work. Hopefully when I switch to TR I won't have that problem on X399. There are tons of people having problems with getting the ZxR to work well. It sounds spectacular when it does work though - tons better than integrated audio.

well, any true audiophile knows you don't buy Sound Blaster for their sound.

and weird about you not having issues with your LG.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact I'm limited to whatever driver Lenovo releases (it's in a M900x Tiny), where I cannot install the stock Intel drivers.

I'm gonna stay with my 3930K; unless someone can show me a good reason to change. 6 years in and still rocking the same machine. First time ever for me.

yoru 3930K oc'd?

checking the CPU passmark, the 8700K is almost 50% faster. granted, I suspect a lot of that has to do with the difference in stock clock speed...3.2ghz vs 3.7ghz.

3930K = 12024

8700K = 17850

Easy enough, play a game at 2560x1440 with each and see how few extra fps you get.

Or open chrome and 10 tabs and see how many nano-seconds faster it is.

Or edit a RAW image and save it. Will be at least 4 microseconds faster

Exactly. Which means that for at least the near future I'm staying right where I am    :D
