Subject: Not sure where to plug my computer case fan in...

This should be fairly obvious, but it's not. I just bought a MSI B250M PRO-VD motherboard and have it mounted in a Fractal Design Core 1000 mATX computer case, and for the life of me, I can't figure out where to plug in the front-mounted fan that is seated inside the front panel... It's a 3 prong plug, but all the pins on the motherboard have 4-pins and the writing is so small I can't read it. Any ideas? Thanks for any help.

You can plug a 3-pin plug into a 4-pin header. There should be a tab that aligns it.

The case fan can be plugged into the 4-pin SYS_FAN1 header. It is located near the rear of the motherboard between the back left corner of the cpu area and the i/o backplane (in front of LAN & USB port block).

You may have to make a BIOS adjustment - set SYS Fan1 fan type select  to [DC Mode].

See page 7 of the User Manual for the fan header location. Page 14 describes the fan headers and related BIOS settings.

That's the CPU fan... I've already got the CPU fan plugged into that. I'll keep looking.

CPU fan is plugged into the wrong header.
If you have problems, look at manual.

I guess my description was not accurate enough. See the User Manual or the diagram Spork has kindly marked up. CPU_FAN1 is on the right edge (top) of the motherboard, just behind (towards the cpu area) the DIMMA1 memory slot.

The CPU fan header is at the top right of the CPU socket. Your motherboard only has 2 header for fan so if you also have a back fan might need a fan splitter to share the single SYS1 fan header.
