Every major US retailer is selling this monitor for $1199.99. That includes big box stores. Moreover, even with duties, taxes and factoring in the exchange rate etc, it doesn't quite add up to what you're selling this product at. It doesn't take someone with a degree in supply chain to know that something is off.

I guess we have to wait till black Friday to see this thing drop  to $1400 again?

Not happy at all

First do not matter what US sells it for. The US MSRP is $1300.

Pricing in Canada is $1900 for this model. Which is the correct price for Canada.
NCIX sale price right now is $1750
Some other retailers are around $1650-1700 for sale price.

It is not only exchange, duties and taxes. But the amount of stock they get, plus the price the retailer buys it at.

You shouldn't delude yourself into believing this. Inevitably it's this attitude that will be the downfall of many Canadian retailers. For those of us that live within < 1 hr driving distance to the US - we would be better off crossing the border and picking it up in person while saving money in the process.

Sure, go to the US and pick it up. Hope you don't need any warranty work on it...

I upgrade monitor every couple years anyway. Btw, If I was that concerned about the warranty I wouldn't travel to the states.

You seem to think we're the ones that tell Asus Canada what to price their monitors at in Canada.

Looking at the bigger picture, the federal gov't needs to lower import tariffs to reduce cost of consumer goods, which include anything from vehicles to computer components, electronics, etc. Even if our dollar was on par with the American dollar, we're still getting "shafted".
Even the Retail Council of Canada has complained to the federal gov't about these ridiculous tariff rates. There's no justification for high tariffs anymore. The gov't rakes in about $4 billion a year in tariff duties, they're in no hurry to lose that coin. And then there's the matter of protectionism for Canadian manufacturers, that's a factor as well. One report I read stated there were protectionism measures in place for industries that don't exit anymore.

I agree. That's why I shop where I get the most bang for my buck. Sometimes it's in Canada, sometimes it's from our friendly southern neighbours.

Hah, as if Canadian retailers can compete with their US counterparts in the first place
